Seems like it’s a great time to own an Android device because Microsoft has finally made Office 365 available for Android OS, although it is not all good news though. The reason we say this is because the new Nexus 7 is not supported by this new app, which we have to say, is a bit of a blow really. Why the 2013 Nexus 7 lacks Office 365 support – The answer is a simple one, as this new app is only available for Android phones, which is a slap in the face if you own an Android tablet, especially when the iPad has Office 365 support.

It is a huge shame, because owners of an Android tablet would like to have easy access to their Office 365 account via an app, and while we believe there will be support, we cannot say for certain of the time frame.

We have to remind you that Office Mobile for Android requires that you already have an Office 365 subscription. If you do not have one yet, then the price is $100, or £66 per year.

If you own an Android tablet like the Nexus 7 2013 update model, then you will have to make-do with Office Web Apps for now, which does come with drawbacks, as your tablet needs to be constantly online and is browser based, which as you may well know does not give you the best user experience.

There has been a mixed reaction to this on the Google Play Store, mostly because users are not happy about the subscription, and would rather just pay a one-off price for the app, so do you agree?
