Safaricom yesterday announced that Kenya will host the second edition of Vodafone Appstar challenge which commences on September 17 to December this year in Nairobi.

Vodafone Appstar Challenge is an international contest targeting mobile application developers from South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania and India.

This year’s contest will see the winners take home more than $20,000 (Sh1.8million).

This is the first time the Vodafone challenge will be held in Nairobi, the first competition was held in South Africa last year and saw Kenyans, Gerald Kibugi and Gilbert Rono beat 6,000 entrants to scoop the first and second price respectively.
